Accessibility

DESIRE is committed to providing an inclusive environment. ASL interpreters are available.

We are actively seeking ways to improve our accessibility, and this page describes the currently available features of DESIRE. Please contact us by email at desireleatherwomen@gmail.com if you need more information or want to discuss accessibility issues further.

Sign Language Interpretation:

DESIRE will provide a team of ASL interpreters for all evening events, and interpreters are available for workshops but you do need to let us know in advance so we can organize the interpreters.. The registration form includes a section to request interpreters, and our accessibility liaisons will follow up to discuss the details of the request.

Communicating Needs:

When you register for Digital DESIRE, there will be a pull down menu with a set of questions and a space at the end to add in more info if needed. The accessibility liaison will email everyone who indicates accessibility needs on registration to confirm or clarify accommodations. The accessibility liaison will follow up with you to clarify your specific needs and provide information on the available services. You can also email us at desireleatherwomen@gmail.com if you need more information or want to discuss accessibility issues further.

If you need help while on-site, contact Tuesday via Discord.

  • Seating up close in front of classrooms
  • Seating up close for stage activities
  • Requesting an ASL Interpreter for a class
  • Requesting an ASL Interpreter for 1-1, Small group, or Littles Tea class

CHAIRS

If you need a specialized chair, and to ensure you have the best experience we highly recommend that you bring your own cushion stuff and or chairs with your name labeled on them.

MOBILITY

We will have ramps to get into classrooms, and parking spaces for your devices (Mobility Scooter, wheelchair etc.) throughout the weekend as well as a designated parking area for the evening activities. Please note there are no wheelchair lifts to get into the pool(s) at this venue.

There are pathways that are not accessible via wheelchair/mobility scooters near rooms 109/110, you will have to utilize the pathway between the Resort office and room 119 to access the 200’s, 300, & 400’s building areas as well as Sling Alley which will be behind 107-109. Please see map below.

In addition, this year we have a Play Maze in between the 100’s and 400’s building areas. This area is not accessible for wheelchair and mobility scooters. This area is all rock. If you choose to enter this maze, please enter safely at your own risk.

Currently any spaces that have a step to get into for classrooms and dining areas will be covered with a mobility ramp so that access into the space is equal for everyone. All rooms do have a small step to get into about 3 inches in height and we can get you a ramp upon request.

HANDRAILS

The only areas with a handrail on site are the entrances into at least 1 pool and some walkways and on the step up to the stage.

There are no handrails otherwise throughout the property. There is no ramp to the stage or handrails on the stage.

Hospitality/Quiet/ Lounge SPACE

We do have a Hospitality area (Cantina) for snacks and hydration as well as a Quiet area in the kitchen/lounge that will have dedicated times for use. You will be able to retreat to these areas as needed. Please note that this space is not scent free nor a sensory only space.  This is also not a place to lay down and take a nap, but you can sit and nap!

SERVICE/EMOTIONAL SUPPORT  ANIMALS

  1. Your Service/Emotional support animal must remain with you at all times.
  2. You must clean up after them. Please bring your own supplies. There is 1 inside area for animals to relieve themselves.  There is a wall by the maze and 406 that has dirt/grass and trees.  This is the ONLY area inside the hotel.
  3. There is space outside the hotel for your Service/Emotional support animal to relieve themselves.
  4. The rest of the Lawns and areas inside the hotel are for Humans.
  5. Should they have an accident inside the hotel area, please clean it up promptly and dilute it with water.
  6. If your Service/Emotional support animal is not behaving, you may be asked to leave temporarily and return without them in tow.

 ALLERGIES

All foods will be labeled with the ingredients to the best of our abilities as the food is being catered and this information comes from the restaurants.

We need to know ASAP if your allergies listed on your EventBrite application are airborne or not, as that will dictate our approach to the food your allergic to being onsite.

Please also do due diligence and have an EpiPen or Epi Nasal spray with you and accessible.
